FRANKMUSIK

Frankmusik made it on to the long-list of the BBC’s Sound of 2009 poll. Frankmusik’s debut album, Complete Me, was released on 3 August 2009. He has also remixed material by other artists, including Pet Shop Boys’ “Love etc.”, Lady Gaga’s Eh Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say), Alphabeat’s “Fascination” and “10,000 Nights”, Mika’s “Relax, Take It Easy” and CSS’s “Move”and has covered “Rehab” by Amy Winehouse. Frankmusik has also produced material for other artists, such as “First Place” from Tinchy Stryder’s Catch 22 album. He is also a former beatboxer, known as Mr Mouth.

In the UK, Gaydar Radio was the first national station to champion Frankmusik and tracks from Complete Me. Initially interviewed by Alex Baker as part of the station’s coverage of national student gay pride, Frankmusik performed a number of live tracks, which were then playlisted as part of an album teaser. On 8 July 2009, the second single to be taken from the album was A-listed by BBC Radio 1. His rise to fame was also followed closely by his local radio station, 107.8 Radio Jackie, the Sound of SW London which was the first station to broadcast his music.

Frankmusik’s debut album Complete Me debuted on the UK Albums Chart at Number 13 on 17 August 2009. This was a fall from its midweek position of Number 5. At Glastonbury in 2009 (Frankmusik’s first performance there) it was announced that “Time Will Tell” will be the next released single.

In January and February 2009, Frankmusik was the support act for Keane on their Perfect Symmetry tour in the UK. In March 2009 Frankmusik headlined National Student Pride in Brighton’s premier seafront club Digital with Jodie Harsh and Dan Gillespie Sells (The Feeling). In June 2009 FrankMusik was support act for the Pet Shop Boys in London and Manchester. Frankmusik did a short tour to launch the album Complete Me, starting in Brighton on 17 July and taking in London, Glasgow and Manchester. On 18th August 2009 a more extensive UK tour was announced to take place during November and December 2009… Just two days later on 20th August 2009, it was announced that Frankmusik would join the Perez Hilton Presents tour in Autumn 2009.

Co-headlining the night will be Deth Hertz (Smoke+Mirrors).

DEPRESSED BUTTONS/THE FAINT (DJ Set) – Friday, August 28

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

WHAT: DEPRESSED BUTTONS/THE FAINT(DJ Set)
WHEN: Friday, August 28, 2009
WHERE: Voyeur | www.voyeursd.com

Depressed Buttons / The Faint

DEPRESSED BUTTONS/THE FAINT
The Faint are an electronic/rock band from Omaha. Originally having Bright Eyes‘ Conor Oberst in the band, they are now a five piece band lead by Todd Fink. The Faint have played Coachella, Glastonbury, Ultra, Street Scene and almost every major festival imagined! This past year they split from Saddl Creek Records and released a single off Boys Noize Records. Since then, they have started a new project called Depressed Buttons for their remixes and live DJ shows.

Depressed Buttons is a new project from Todd Fink, Clark Baechle and Jacob Thiele. As three-fifths of The Faint they have a serious penchant for synthesizers and dance music. Depressed Buttons is a foray into the electronic ether, the digital dimension and the future of sound. Don’t let the word depressed fool you. When speaking of buttons and switches rather than emotions and psycho-babble, being depressed means being switched ON!

Bloody Beetroots at Voyeur – Recap by lenewshit.com

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

“Bloody Beetroots gave one hell of a show! Stage diving, crowd surfing, and people socking each other up is the name of the game when it comes to a show by the masked ones. Steve Aoki dropped in to party and even decided to play Warp TWICE. The Voyeur venue in downtown San Diego was bananas, with LED stage lighting straight out of Daft Punk’s pyramid… “
